Association of Biomedical Laboratory Professionals (Singapore)

The ABMLPS official launch was held on the 25th of September 2019 at the Ng Teng Fong Centre for Healthcare Innovation in Novena, Singapore! Over 160 biomedical laboratory professionals from medical laboratories and biomedical research laboratories in Singapore attended the event!

With the aim to increase awareness of ABMLPS as an association representing biomedical laboratory professionals in Singapore, as well as to uplift and professionalise the industry, invited guests and biomedical laboratory professionals from hospitals and research laboratories and institutions island-wide were invited to this event. Individuals from ABMLPS’s steering committee as well as volunteers of the association, were also all on deck to help staff the registration booth and to help in the logistics and smooth running of this event. Sincere thanks to all those who had volunteered their time with us, it is well appreciated.

ABMLPS’s official launch event was also graced by our supporting corporate members including MiRXES Pricate Limited and DH RegSys Private Limited who had an exciting and productive time meeting with our fellow invited guests as well as the opportunity for their team to network with biomedical laboratory professionals representing various fields of laboratory medicine disciplines and the biomedical research communities in Singapore.

The event was initiated with an introduction to the society’s aims and vision by our President Dr. Shirlena Soh. Dissemination of future workshops and networking events was also echoed to the audience during the event. This was followed by a cake caking ceremony to mark this joyous occasion as we look forward to advocate for, educate and raise awareness of biomedical laboratory professionals in Singapore to uplift our profession. To cap off the launch, Dr. Zhou Lihan of our platinum corporate member MiREX gave the audience an overview of MiREX organisation and their work on healthcare solutions with a strong focus on molecular diagnostic platforms through the detection of microRNA to enable early detection of solid tumours/cancers as well as viral detection.

The event ended with a great networking session and dinner between colleagues, old friends and new acquaintances, as well as new business opportunities. ABMLPS hopes that this event has sparked ideas, friendship, camaraderie and have enhanced the network links among our biomedical laboratory professionals in Singapore. ABMLPS looks forward to welcome new members to our association in future workshops and events!
